How To Install Odoo 10

Odoo was founded in 2005 after which it came with several versions and different features. Odoo has recently launched 10th version with multiple advanced features. ODOO helps in managing your accounting activities,inventory and warehouse management,sales management,POS,CRM,Human resources which are being interlinked together.

Newbies just have a look at these steps and this blog will be the easiest way to install ODOO 10 on Ubuntu for your PC

Technical Specifications:

Minimum RAM: 2 GB
Minimum Hard Disk: 40-60 GB
Ubuntu Version : 12.04 + stable version

Editions :

There are two different Editions of Odoo: the Community and Enterprise versions. Using the Enterprise version is possible on our SaaS and accessing the code is restricted to Enterprise customers and partners. The Community version is freely available to anyone.

Important Note:

If you want to install the enterprise version then you have to be an official partner or that you need to have bought the Enterprise subscription from Odoo. Otherwise you will be given NO access to the Github repository for the Enterprise code!


The first step would be downloading script from Github and to add code in a new file with the .sh extension on your Ubuntu machine.
For example right under /home. Open up an Ubuntu terminal and cd to the directory where you’d like to keep the script and then create the file:

sudo wget

The code will run accordingly before installing of the version ,the command will to install the script with the name as an extension.

Open the install script using command:

The script installed will be installed by the command and which will help in creating users,directories and databases.

sudo nano odoo_install.s

Choosing the right version for ODOO:

The next step is to decide the type of edition which you want to installed i.e community or enterprise.
If you want the enterprise version of V10 you should change the line IS_ENTERPRISE to true:
If you want the community version you can just continue and keep the IS_ENTERPRISE key on false (which is the case by default):

Executing ODOO file installation:

After installing the type of version you want to run in ODOO you need to execute the file which was installed earlier.
This could be done with the help of following command

sudo chmod +x

Script Execution:

Further the last step for installing is the script will be its execution .The script could be run by using the following command:



Testing ODOO frontend

1. Open a new browser window and enter your IP address, followed by :8069 (to indicate port 8069) in the address bar:

2. Finally you have entered in the world of ODOO.

3. You can create your own database and start working on ODOO.
